How to Lose Weight Without doing Cardio!

Anyone who says they enjoy cardio isn’t from this planet, or they just need their brain tested. Lots of people want that perfectly sculpted summer body, but not everyone is willing to undertake weeks of cardio to get there. And that’s perfectly alright, because I’m here to tell you that you do not need cardio in order to lose weight and look leaner or to have abs. Yes, cardio certainly does help to shred calories by allowing your body to increase its energy output, but it is not a necessity.

  • Control that diet! It’s simple, keep your caloric intake (the amount of calories you consume) below your maintenance calorie levels, which is basically the amount of calories you need to maintain your current weight. By eating around 200-500 calories below this level, you will lose weight.

I’ve found a good calculator for your maintenance calorie levels. Check it out!

  • You really are what you eat! Different foods benefit our bodies in different ways and you have to be careful of what you eat. I know the previous step outlined the importance of counting calories, but for example, eating just 2 burgers for the whole day and totalling 1000 calories is not as good as eating four well-balanced meals for the whole day and totalling 2000 calories. Does that make sense?

Below I’m going to highlight those foods which are deemed good for us

  • Keep active in some sort of manner. This means maybe take the stairs instead of the elevator. Park a little further from your usual spot and walk the difference. Little things like this keep your metabolism going, and help burn more calories.
  • Use an app like MyFitnessPal, which is available for both iPhone and Android smartphones. If you haven’t heard of it, the app basically allows you to monitor your calories for the day and allows you to set goals for yourself. It’s a great way of counting calories and monitoring your progress. Give it a try, it might just work for you!
